First of the Month
October 1st! I can't believe we're headed into colder weather when I can still feel the heat of summer. As we move onto a new season, I take a moment to reflect on what habits I've engrained in my everyday life, and which ones I would like to improve. Since we added a new furry family member, my sleep has suffered. With poor sleep, my digestion is suffering, mind is scattered, and energy is low. My old bedtime routine is no longer working since my husband and I have another one to put to bed. This one goes to bed much later than the 7 yr old. But this is what I can do. I’m going to work on wearing blue light blocking glasses before bed and avoiding screens an hour before bed. I’ll take my reading to the couch instead of my bed. On a more positive note, I have been getting a few walks in a day with the dog!

Avoiding screens before bed is not just about the blue light coming off the screens. It’s also about the mind being engaged in the endless scrolling and dopamine hits from clicking endless entertainment. It’s activating the brain at a time when it needs to be slowing down.
